Coppermascus Tuna Sword — 52100 Carbon Damascus

This is a showpiece. A 275mm blade built for the long, clean draw cuts that break down big fish and lay out sashimi in single unbroken slices. A tuna sword earns its name, and few knives turn heads like this one.

The blade is San Mai, built around a 52100 carbon steel core. 52100 is a bearing steel prized by makers for the way it takes a screaming edge and holds it, the sort of edge that glides rather than saws. That core is clad in copper mosaic Damascus, where copper runs through the folded steel and gives the pattern a warm glow you do not get in standard Damascus. No two blades are ever the same.

Being carbon steel, this one rewards a bit of care. Keep it wiped down and waxed and it will earn a character all of its own over the years.

The handle is carbon fiber. Light, tough and balanced against the length of the blade.

Look after it A blade this size and this special deserves protecting. We recommend pairing it with our knife wax and a 400mm leather carry case. The wax keeps the carbon steel and copper Damascus protected and rich, and the case keeps that long edge safe whether it lives on the bench or travels with you. A few minutes of care and a knife like this will outlast all of us.

Keeping Your Edge

A quick strop before each use keeps your blade at its best. For a full sharpen, use a whetstone at the factory angle or send it back to us for free resharpening under the Iron Gate Lifetime Guarantee.

General Care

Wipe the blade dry after use. Apply mineral oil or handle wax to the handle every few months. Store in the included Kydex sheath.
