How it started

Two mates, too much COVID, and a shed.

It all began like many good things do two friends with too much time during COVID and an idea that probably should've stayed in the back of our minds.

Andrew and I loved the outdoors: hunting, fishing, camping the usual stuff. Like most guys, we had our fair share of mediocre knives. They looked nice in pictures but couldn't hold an edge after one use.

So, we decided to try making our own.

The first attempts were pretty rough. But something clicked. Taking raw steel and crafting it into a functional tool was an experience like no other.

What began in a garage has grown into a full workshop. We have a dedicated team, a build list to keep us on track, and customers from Australia and beyond.

Every Thursday at 7pm AEST, we launch new knives. Some are unique, one-off pieces with special handles, while others are restocks of our bestsellers, which often sell out.

We also offer a Built-to-Order program. You choose your knife, we craft it, and it ships in about 4–6 weeks. This is how we handle most of our orders, ensuring you receive a knife made just for you.

How we make knives

The right steel. The right hands. No shortcuts.

Every Iron Gate knife begins as a piece of premium steel, precision-cut from designs refined through countless iterations.

Each blade is laboratory heat treated, with cryogenic treatment applied where it enhances performance. It's not the fastest process. It's the right one.

Every handle is handcrafted from start to finish using carefully selected steels including N690, AEB-L, Elmax, MagnaCut, 1084, Damascus, and 12C27, each chosen for its intended purpose.

Every knife comes complete with a custom Kydex sheath and our lifetime guarantee. If we wouldn't back it for life, we wouldn't put our name on it.
