The Mini Skinner is the evolution of our Ergo Skinner and Mini Hunter. We wanted something highly ergonomic, but with enough cutting edge to process large deer and game.
It’s a small knife with a proper job to do. Short, curved belly, fine point, built for skinning and caping where control matters more than size. Light on the belt, easy in the hand, and built to last. It can be a versatile EDC knife, a field knife, or a glorified box opener.
The steel is stainless Raindrop Damascus San Mai over a VG10 core, a hard, fine-grained Japanese cutting core wrapped in layered stainless and etched to bring out the raindrop pattern. You get the edge retention of a premium core with stainless outer layers that shrug off blood, salt and rain. 3.5mm at the spine, so there’s backbone behind the edge without turning it into a wedge.
The handle is Minni Ritchi, the curling red bark timber out of the Australian inland. Deep reds and blacks running through the grain, stabilised so it stays put.

Keeping Your Edge
A quick strop before each use keeps your blade at its best. For a full sharpen, use a whetstone at the factory angle or send it back to us for free resharpening under the Iron Gate Lifetime Guarantee.
General Care
Wipe the blade dry after use. Apply mineral oil or handle wax to the handle every few months. Store in the included Kydex sheath.

Every Iron Gate knife is built in our workshop in Anna Bay, NSW the same town it's been for years. We're a small team. We make a small number of knives each week. We do it properly.
The handles are real materials deer antler, abalone shell, blackwood, paua. The sheaths are kydex, fitted to the blade. The lifetime backing is real too.

You Want Sharp??
This is the sharpest knife I own and I have some really good Aussie made knives! For such a small EDC type it cuts through things like it’s made of laser beam (light saber). The deer antler is beautiful and I want more. Perhaps if I get the chance a mammoth tooth and dark wood or deer antler one. As well as a hunter, bush craft and kitchen knife.

Hand made knives have been around thousands of years, and there have always been masters of the craft. Iron Gate has just stepped it up a notch. Our standard build time is 5–7 business days. Custom orders may take longer depending on complexity.

Engraving changes can be made within 24 hours of placing your order. Please contact us immediately if you need to make a change.

Our leather cases are handcrafted from full-grain leather in a rich dark brown finish. Each case is unique with natural grain variations.

There is no minimum order for standard items. Bulk and corporate orders have a minimum of 10 units.

Our lifetime warranty covers all manufacturing defects and material failures. It does not cover accidental damage or normal wear and tear.
