HOW WE MAKE KNIVES

MADE BY HAND. MADE TO LAST.

We heat treat our blades in a laboratory environment to get the most out of each steel, and run cryo treatments on the steels that benefit from it. It's not the fastest way to do things, but it's the right way. All of our handles are handmade, start to finish. No shortcuts.

We use a mix of steels depending on the model — N690, AEB-L, Elmax, MagnaCut, 1084, Damascus, 12C27. Each one chosen for the job the knife needs to do. Not the cheapest. Not always the fastest. The right steel for the job, built to last.

Every Iron Gate knife is built in our workshop in Anna Bay, NSW the same town it's been for years. We're a small team. We make a small number of knives each week. We do it properly.

The handles are real materials deer antler, abalone shell, blackwood, paua. The sheaths are kydex, fitted to the blade. The lifetime backing is real too.
